Chökhor Düchen (Festival of Buddha's Turning of the Wheel of the Dharma)

Chökhor Düchen marks one of the four great festivals of the Buddhist calendar, commemorating the day the Buddha gave his first teaching at Deer Park in Sarnath the turning of the Wheel of Dharma, in which he taught the Four Noble Truths to his first five disciples.

This year's observance at Ngagyur Palyul Ling will include special pujas, group recitations, and offerings dedicated to the long life of the Dharma and the wellbeing of all sentient beings. Actions performed on this day prayer, generosity, and practice are traditionally held to generate merit many times greater than on ordinary days.

The day begins with morning prayers, followed by a formal puja led by the resident lamas, with time set aside for the community to make offerings and dedicate merit together.

All are welcome to attend and take part in this auspicious day.
