Recitation of the Collected Words of the Buddha (Kangyur Dakdrok)
By events Aug 18, 2026
The Kangyur, the "Translated Words" of the Buddha, is the collection of sutras and teachings attributed directly to Shakyamuni Buddha, preserved across more than a hundred volumes of Tibetan Buddhist canon. Dakdrok a full communal recitation of the Kangyur is one of the most meritorious group practices undertaken at Ngagyur Palyul Ling.
During this event, the monastic community gathers to recite the entire Kangyur together, dividing the volumes among the assembled sangha so that the full canon is read aloud within a short and concentrated period. The practice is dedicated to the preservation of the Buddha's teachings, the long life of the Dharma in the world, and the benefit of all beings.
Devotees are welcome to sponsor individual volumes or sessions of the recitation, and to join the monastery in person to witness or participate in the practice.
Please contact the monastery office for details on sponsorship and volume dedication.
